Barcelona, Feb 15 (EFE) - A group of researchers has identified that a drug used for autoimmune diseases is potentially useful for blocking the action of brain cells, and astrocytes, which are key in the development of Parkinson's disease.Scientists from the Bellvitge Biomedical Research Institute (IDIBELL) and the Institute of Biomedicine of the University of Barcelona (IBUB), in collaboration with neurologists from Hospital ClĂnic, have demonstrated that in Parkinson's astrocytes are reactive, so that they attack and kill the nerve cells that produce dopamine.FOOTAGE OF THE BIOMEDICAL RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF BELLVITGE (IDIBELL)
