Dozens gather in Madrid to protest neighbor’s eviction
Madrid, May 7 (EFE).- About 50 people gathered early Thursday morning on Carnero Street in downtown Madrid to try to stop the eviction of Mariano Ordaz, a 67-year-old resident whose eviction has already been halted on four previous occasions.According to spokespeople for the Tenants’ Union, the National Police cordoned off the area with a large deployment of several police vans, before the arrival of the judicial commission.CAMERA: ÁNGEL HERRERA.FOOTAGE OF THE AREA WHERE THE EVICTION WILL TAKE PLACE, TWO ACTIVISTS WHO HAVE HUNG THEMSELVES FROM THE ROOF OF THE BUILDING, USING THE DOOR OF MARIANO ORDAZ’S APARTMENT AS AN ANCHOR POINT TO TRY TO PREVENT ACCESS TO THE PROPERTY.
