Santo Domingo, Feb 18 (EFE).- Polling stations in the Dominican Republic closed their doors Sunday after ten hours of voting to elect new municipal authorities, paving the way for presidential and legislative elections in May.The polling stations, which opened at 7:00 AM local time (11:00 AM GMT), officially closed at 5:00 PM local time (9:00 PM GMT). However, people who were already inside the polling stations at the time of closing were able to cast their vote, in accordance with the rules established by the Central Electoral Board (JCE).The day developed without significant problems, except for some minor incidents.
