New Delhi chief minister makes first public appearance after being released from jail

New Delhi, May 11 (EFE/EPA) - The chief minister of New Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal, gave his first public speech on Saturday after being released on bail from prison on Friday.

Kejriwal kicked off his election campaign on Friday surrounded by hundreds of his supporters who, according to NDTV footage, blocked the access road to the jail and circulated traditional sweets, a rooted tradition during celebrations in the Asian country.

Kejriwal will now be able to hold rallies and seek the vote of the inhabitants of the Indian capital, who will go to the polls on May 25 in the sixth phase of the country's general elections.
