One dead after explosion in northern Spain

Logroño, July 31 (EFE).- A man died this Sunday after an explosion in a house on the fifth floor of number 76 of Avenida Pérez Galdós in Logroño, according to Logroño City Council.

The deceased, a man born in 1982, lived for rent on the fifth floor C of the building and fell into the courtyard after the explosion, which occurred shortly before six in the afternoon.

Emergency services from the Logroño Fire Department, the local police, the national police and medical services were at the scene of the explosion, the causes of which are unknown.

Residents of adjacent floors in the building were evacuated as a precaution and no injuries were reported, Logroño Municipal Development Councillor Iván Reinares told reporters on Sunday. (Camera: ABEL ALONSO).
