Costa Rica targets markets in Asia and the Middle East to strengthen its commercial opening

San José, April 19 (EFE).- Costa Rica is advancing in the diversification of its markets, which currently includes the Middle East and Asia region, with the aim of consolidating its historical model of commercial openness and promoting the growth of its productive sector.

Statement by the Minister of Foreign Trade of Costa Rica, Manuel Tovar: We continue on the path of seeking more markets. Costa Rica is a small economy that since its foundation as a Republic was linked to international markets with coffee exports. Today we export more than 4,500 high value-added products to the world, to different markets. This is the 18th trade agreement we have signed. But we are not stopping there, we are trying to start negotiations with Israel soon and also, as it is well known, the transpacific agreement, the CPTPP, as it is known by its acronym in English, where Japan and other nations of Asia and the Pacific are part of, is something we are aiming at with great intention.
