Construction of new capital in Indonesia

Sepaku (Indonesia), Mar 8 (EFE/EPA) - (Camera: Mast Irham) Indonesia has started building Nusantara as a new capital city on an area of 56,180 hectares in East Kalimantan province, amid concerns over the effects of the city's development on the environment and the indigenous population.

According to Nusantara Capital Authority head Bambang Susantono, the new capital is expected to replace Jakarta in the first half of 2024.
