Colombia's vice-president takes symbolic swearing-in ceremony in hometown

Suarez, Aug 13 (EFE).- Colombia's Vice President Francia Márquez symbolically took office on Sataurday in her home country, the department of Cauca, where she announced that the creation of the Ministry of Equality, which she herself will head, will be presented to Congress this week.

As one of their main campaign promises to be implemented once in government, Colombian President Gustavo Petro and Márquez agreed that this new portfolio would be created to address "Colombia's greatest challenge: inequality". (Camera: ERNESTO GUZMAN JR).
