STATEMENTS BY THE VICE PRESIDENT OF COLOMBIA, FRANCE MARQUEZ:

And the biggest challenge Patricia has had is to eradicate corruption in this institution that was created to guarantee the rights of the victims, but nevertheless, past governments allowed this directorate to end up being a political fortress where business was done and the rights of the victims were violated. Up to now, a process of clarification is being carried out on the fund for the reparation of victims, which was one of the measures or one of the sources of financing defined by the law, and we have found that assets that should have been placed at the disposal of victims are and have been in the hands of the perpetrators. And this shows the challenge we have to continue transforming this institution to give back dignity to the victims of this country. This, of course, has meant an enormous transformation effort led by Patricia.
