COLOMBIA RAINS

Colombia will face three climate emergencies in the second half of 2024

Bogotá, May 16 (EFE).- Colombia will face three climate emergencies during the second quarter of 2024 that will put the country in a vulnerable situation, the Minister of Environment and Sustainable Development, Susana Muhamad, said this Thursday.

STATEMENTS BY GHISLIANE ECHEVERRY, DIRECTOR OF THE INSTITUTE OF HYDROLOGY, METEOROLOGY AND ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES (IDEAM).

As of July, August, September, we are already talking about a 69% probability of a “La Niña” phenomenon, telling you that the waters of the Pacific Ocean will cool down. And I reiterate, at this moment we are not in a “La Niña” phenomenon. These are the rains of the rainy season, which is usual in the country. The phenomenon is expected for the July, August, September quarter with greater probability and that it will gain strength. That is to say, for the second rainy season in the country that occurs between September, October and November in the Andean, Caribbean and Pacific regions, this second rainy season will be intensified by a “La Niña” phenomenon. This is our latest weather forecast bulletin.
