INDIA PROTESTS

Clashes between farmers and police at Shambhu, border point between Haryana and Punjab

Shambhu (India), Feb 16 (EFE/EPA).- (Camera: Harishg Tyagi) Indian farmers on Friday moderated their attempts to reach the Indian capital to demand legal guarantees from the government for their harvest, in a day of national strike that left roads and shops closed, although it left few incidents.

The strike was called across the country by hundreds of agricultural unions, which were behind the massive encampments that surrounded New Delhi between 2020 and 2021 to demand the withdrawal of several laws, and one of the focal points of today's strike was the northern state of Punjab.
