Ordos City, Apr 27 (EFE/EPA).- On Thursday, local Chinese residents and volunteers continued planting trees at the Engebei Ecological Zone in Ordos City, China. Situated north of Kubuqi and south of the Yellow River, the zone serves as a demonstration area for local desertification control efforts. Over the past four decades, locals, and volunteers from China and abroad have planted more than 6 million trees, 30,000 mu of shrubs, and 5,000 mu of grasses in the region. As a result, vegetation now covers 70% of the area, with forests accounting for 33%. The Engebei Ecological Zone highlights the importance of collaborative efforts in environmental conservation.
