China's retail sales increase by 3.7%, unemployment rate remains unchanged

Beijing, Jun 17 (EFE/EPA).- China's retail sales increased by 3.7 percent year-on-year in May 2024, accelerating from a fifteen-month low of 2.3 percent rise in April and compared to market forecasts of a 3 percent gain, according to the data released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) released on Monday.

Meanwhile, the surveyed urban unemployment rate in China stood at five percent in May 2024, unchanged from April's five-month low and matching market forecasts, according to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS). (Camera: WU HAO).
