China advances panda reintroduction programmes to bolster wild populations

Ya'an, Jun 24 (EFE).- In China, experts are dedicated to ensuring a growing population of pandas in their original habitats, with special emphasis on reintroducing those born in captivity back into the wild.

Conservation bases in Sichuan, such as Hetaoping and Bifengxia, focus intensively on reviving the wild instincts of newborn cubs to improve their survival and rejuvenate the free-ranging panda population.

The process begins in the cubs' first year, in a controlled space where they learn vital survival skills such as finding water. As they grow, their environment is expanded, simulating their natural habitat, allowing for minimal human intervention. (Camera: LORENA CANTÓ/ANDRÉS MARTÍNEZ).
