Chile signs modernization of its free trade agreement with alliance of 4 European countries

Geneva (Switzerland), Jun 24 (EFE) - Chile and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA), composed of Switzerland, Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein, signed on Monday an agreement to modernize their free trade agreement twenty years after the entry into force of the pact, which has been the basis for a considerable increase in exports from the South American country to this European bloc.

"Almost all of our foreign trade is covered by free trade agreements, but the free trade agreements with Europe have a special quality because they incorporate issues that are very relevant to our economy, such as the promotion of small and medium-sized enterprises, which is a new chapter with the EFTA countries," Chilean Foreign Minister Alberto van Klaveren told EFE.
