Bucharest celebrates St. George's Day at Monument to Fallen Heroes | Video

Bucharest (Romania), Apr 23 (EFE/EPA) - Soldiers of the Romanian Guard of Honour paraded today in memory of the victims of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, during a memorial ceremony held at the Monument to Fallen Heroes, as part of the celebrations for St. George's Day, patron saint of the Romanian Land Forces.

Romania participated as a NATO member from 2001 to 2021 in the Afghan War on behalf of the US-led multinational coalition with more than 32,000 soldiers, of whom 27 were killed and 131 wounded in action.
