US MIGRATION CRISIS

A border shelter confronts Texas' anti-immigrant policies

El Paso (US), June 7 (EFE).- Since 1978, Rubén García has dedicated his energies to helping those who knock on the door of the Annunciation House network of Catholic shelters, in the border city of El Paso. In the last year that work has become increasingly more complicated due to judicial persecution by the state of Texas, which seeks to close the shelters because it considers them a "criminal organization" that promotes irregular migration.

TRANSLATION:

"Many other organizations are looking at our case very seriously, there are many groups of lawyers who have offered to want to support them in any way they can, precisely because if we don't find a way to put a stop to the prosecutor and the prosecutor succeeds in shutting us down, then he will continue with the next one, he will take flight with that and that is why it is so important that we handle this moment as best we can. We thank God very much that we have a very competent team of lawyers and we are trusting a lot in their experience, their knowledge."
