Blacksmiths in Tunisia sharpen knives for animal sacrifice in Eid al-Adha celebration

Tunis, Jun 26 (EFE).- Preparations for the Muslim celebration of Eid al-Adha are already underway in Tunisia, where blacksmiths sharpen the tools with which they will slaughter the animals and cut the meat.

Eid al-Adha is one of the holiest Muslim holidays of the year. It marks the annual Muslim pilgrimage, known as the Hajj, to visit Mecca.

During Eid al-Adha, Muslims sacrifice goats, sheep and cows in commemoration of the Prophet Abraham's willingness to sacrifice his son to show obedience to God. They divide the flesh into three parts: one for the family, one for friends and relatives, and one for the poor and needy.
