BJP protests liquor sales in India’s Kashmir
SRINAGAR, India, May 15 (EFE/EPA).— Activists from India’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party protested on Friday outside the residence of Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, demanding a complete ban on liquor sales in Kashmir.Indian police officers blocked demonstrators during the protest in Srinagar amid criticism of the regional government’s decision not to prohibit alcohol sales in the territory.The demonstrations come as opposition groups and religious organisations continue to call for stricter prohibition measures while authorities pursue the anti-drug campaign known as “Nasha Mukht J&K Abhiyan".
