BJP leads but faces significant electoral setback in India

Bangalore, Jun 4 (EFE/EPA).- Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led alliance was leading in vote counts on Tuesday but faced a significant electoral setback after mammoth six-week elections in India.

Early trends indicated that the ruling coalition, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) led by the Hindu nationalist prime minister, was losing the overwhelming majority it held in the outgoing parliament. (Camera: JAGADEESH NV).
