Berlin and Warsaw investigate ecological disaster in the Oder River

Frankfurt am Main (Germany), Aug 13 (EFE), (Camera: Clemens Bilan).- The German and Polish authorities are investigating in parallel the scope and trigger of the ecological catastrophe revealed by the massive death of tons of fish on the Oder river, bordering between the two countries.

The first analyzes carried out from Brandenburg, the East German "Land" that surrounds Berlin, detected toxic substances that could come from mercury discharges, presumably from a Polish industrial plant.

Brandenburg already yesterday activated the alert for the situation of the river, after a massive presence of dead fish has been detected in recent days, which was initially attributed to the effects of the drought, since the river level is well below usual.
