Belgians call for continuity of Tihange 2 nuclear power station

Tihange (Belgium), Jan 31 (EFE/EPA) - (Camera: Olivier Hoslet) Dozens of activists participated on Tuesday in a pro-nuclear protest under the slogan "Stand-Up for Nuclear" at Engie's nuclear power plant in Tihange, which was also attended by former Energy Minister Marie Christine Marghem and the leader of the N-VA party, Antwerp Mayor Bart De Wever.

The Tihange 2 nuclear power plant, with a capacity of 900 MW, will be definitively disconnected from the grid on January 31, 2023, after 40 years of electricity production.

"Stand-Up for Nuclear" demands that the Tihange-2 reactor be kept in operational status after the planned shutdown.
