Arrival of Lula Da Silva at the COP27 climate summit

Sharm el Sheikh (Egypt), Nov 16 (EFE), (Camera: Rosa Soto).- A crowd of activists, journalists and other participants of the COP27 crowded Wednesday the pavilion of the 'Consórcio Interestadual de la Amazónia Legal' waiting to see the president-elect of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula Da Silva, who arrived the day before the Egyptian city of Sharm el Sheikh where this international climate summit is held.

The Brazilian leader met with different representatives of the consortium and Amazonian indigenous communities to learn about their demands and proposals to address the climate crisis and its effects on the country and, in particular, the protection of the Amazon against the excesses of indiscriminate deforestation and mining extraction in recent decades. During the closed-door meeting, hundreds of people gathered around the pavilion waiting to see Lula; among them was the president of the Shirley Djukurna/Anmiga Institute, Shirley Krenak, accompanied by other representatives of the institution, all dressed in traditional indigenous costumes.
