Ankara mayor takes office after local elections | Video

Ankara (Turkey), Apr 4 (EFE/EPA) - (Camera: Necati Savas) The candidate for mayor of Ankara for the Republican People's Party (CHP), Mansur Yavas, took office today after revalidating it in the local elections that took place in Turkey last Sunday.

The CHP not only kept the mayorships of Istanbul and Ankara, conquered in 2019, as well as its usual fiefdoms on the west and Mediterranean coast but has also won in some strongholds of the Justice and Development Party (AKP, by its Turkish acronym) of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, such as Bursa, the fourth largest city in the country.
