Afro-Cuban religion offers hope amid Cuba's economic hardship

Havana, Jun 15 (EFE).- When Cuban retiree Elvira Garcia knocked on the door of the babalawo (Ifa priest), she looked to the Afro-Cuban religion for answers to her despair.

Struggling with food shortages, inflation and her daughter's illness, she turned to the Orisha for comfort and solutions.

Daniel Oliva, a 46-year-old babalawo, observed an increase in religious interest due to Cuba's economic crisis. He noted that many Cubans, facing severe hardship, now seek spiritual guidance to find hope and achieve their dreams. (Camera: FELIPE BORREGO).
