BOLIVIA PROTESTS

84-year-old Spanish activist bravely reclaims occupied human rights building in Bolivia

La Paz, Jul 11 (EFE).- Spanish activist Amparo Carvajal, 84, courageously climbed a ladder on Tuesday to reach the rooftop terrace of the private headquarters of the Permanent Assembly of Human Rights of Bolivia (Apdhb).

Her aim was to reclaim the building, which had been occupied by a pro-government group for more than a month.

For almost 40 days, Carvajal has steadfastly maintained a vigil at the back door of the Apdhb building in La Paz. The occupation of the institution in early June led to the eviction of activists and the subsequent takeover by the group. (Camera: GABRIEL ROMANO).
