Over 600,000 affected in China by Typhoon Gaemi, which left 5 dead in Taiwan

Shanghai/Taipei, Jul 26 (EFE).- Almost 630,000 people were affected in southeastern China after the arrival of Typhoon Gaemi, which caused the country’s first red alert of the year after leaving five dead and nearly 700 wounded while passing through Taiwan.

According to the state-owned Xinhua news agency, 290,000 residents had to be temporarily relocated due to the arrival of the storm, which made landfall in the southeastern province of Fujian around 7.50 pm local time on Thursday with maximum winds of 118.8 kilometers per hour (73.8 miles per hour).
