Seoul, Nov 14 (EFE/EPA).- More than half a million South Korean students sat Thursday for the demanding university entrance exams, a national event that has an impact on public transport, the Seoul Stock Exchange and even flights.

A total of 522,670 high school students or graduates registered for this year's Suneung, the Korean acronym for the university entrance exam.

This year saw a record number of students taking the exam for the second time: 93,195 first-year undergraduates seeking a higher score to gain admission to a more prestigious institution. (Camera: JEON HEON-KYUN)>
