Adel (USA), Oct 8 (EFE/EPA) - U.S. President Joe Biden warned Tuesday that Hurricane Milton could be the “worst” to hit the state of Florida in a century and asked people in the path of the storm to evacuate as soon as possible.

The U.S. National Hurricane Center (NHC) warned in its 11:00 local time (15:00 GMT) bulletin that “today is the last day for Florida residents to prepare” in their homes or evacuate designated areas, if directed by local authorities.

Milton, a hurricane that strengthened in record time in the Gulf of Mexico to Category 5, the highest on the Saffir-Simpson scale, was downgraded today to Category 4 and its center is expected to make landfall Wednesday night near Tampa Bay in Hillsborough County (west coast of Florida).
