Tokyo, Apr 20 (EFE).- A shallow magnitude-7.5 earthquake struck off the coast of central Japan on Monday, prompting tsunami warnings, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA).

The quake occurred at 4.53pm off the coast of Sanriku at a depth of 10 kilometers, with tsunami warnings and advisories issued for coastal areas from Hokkaido to Fukushima prefecture, with waves potentially reaching 3 meters in height, the JMA reported. (Camera: HANDOUT).
