Unions take over Argentina's capital and ask government to curb inflation

Buenos Aires, Aug 17 (EFE), (Camera: Alberto Caratozzolo)- Unions aligned with the Government of Argentina took over downtown Buenos Aires on Wednesday to show their support to the Executive in the face of "speculators" but also to demand President Alberto Fernandez to curb inflation that liquefies the income of Argentines.

The General Confederation of Labor (CGT), the country's largest labor federation dominated by Peronist union leaders, held a massive rally in the capital against "speculation" and "price makers", which it blamed for the high inflation suffered by Argentina, 71 % year-on-year last July.
