Trial of WSJ correspondent Evan Gershkovich begins in Russia

Yekaterinburg, Jun 25 (EFE/EPA).- The trial of WSJ correspondent Evan Gershkovich began in Yekaterinburg, Russia, on Wednesday.

Gershkovich, an American journalist covering Russia for The Wall Street Journal, was arrested in Yekaterinburg on March 29, 2023.

The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) claims that, on instructions from the US authorities, he collected information constituting a state secret about a Russian company in the military-industrial complex.

He is charged with espionage under Art. 276 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, which could lead to a sentence of up to 20 years. (Camera: STRINGER).
