Thai Buddhists celebrate sacred red robe ritual

Bangkok, Nov 8 (EFE/EPA).- Thai Buddhist devotees gathered at Wat Saket, also known as the Temple of the Golden Mountain, in Bangkok, Thailand, on Friday for the annual Sacred Red Robe Ceremony.

The ritual, which has been held for more than 130 years, involves devotees climbing 344 steps in a long red cloth to cover the pagoda and pay homage to the relics of Lord Buddha.

The ceremony, which is held in the twelfth lunar month, is believed to bring good fortune, happiness and prosperity to attendees. Devotees carry a statue of Buddha and participate in this ancient tradition to honour their beliefs. (Camera: RUNGROJ YONGRIT).
