FOREST FIRES

Tenerife on alert against the risk of fires due to high temperatures

Santa Cruz de Tenerife (Spain), July 25 (EFE).- Since this Wednesday, the Cabildo of Tenerife has activated grade 2 measures for the prevention of forest fires, such as the prohibition of stays in recreational areas and camping areas, as well as the circulation of motor vehicles in the network of forest tracks, given the meteorological circumstances in which temperatures of up to 34 degrees are expected.

Grade 2 measures will last until Monday, July 29.

The president of the Cabildo, Rosa Dávila, asked the population in a statement to comply with the instructions "since there is a risk of forest fire due to the high temperatures" and has stressed that measures must have been taken to guarantee the safety of people and of the natural environment "in exceptional circumstances".
