Manaus, Brazil, Jun 13 (EFE).- A project to install sewer systems in one of the most impoverished areas of Manaus and another to increase the production capacity of a battery plant employing over 500 people are examples of why boosting investments in the Amazon is crucial for the region's development and for preventing deforestation. Investing in sustainable projects that provide livelihoods for the 50 million inhabitants of the Amazon, one of Latin America's least socially developed regions, is essential to halting deforestation in an area severely impacted by the climate crisis and human activity.
