Study finds discrimination within LGBT dating apps

San Francisco, Oct 22 (EFE) .- A study carried out in the US among more than 5,000 users of popular dating applications for the LGBT community such as Grindr and SCRUFF found that one of the main complaints is the cruelty that other users may show and warned that its effects on self-esteem can lead to an increase in transmission of HIV.

"They may experience that discrimination in many different ways, that might be based on their body type, or their gender expression or their HIV status, their race, many different factors," said Jen Hecht, one of the authors of the study and promoter of NiceAF, a project dedicated to reducing toxicity in applications.
