Spain and Portugal boost AI, health and energy innovation

FOOTAGE AND SOUNDBITES OF THE PORTUGUESE MINISTER OF EDUCATION, FERNANDO ALEXANDRE, AT THE WEB SUMMIT IN LISBON, PORTUGAL:

- "I think that the collaborations between Portugal and Spain make, I am certain that they make these projects much stronger. They are also a way of reinforcing the position of the Iberian space in the European Union and its participation in the construction of a European Union research and higher education space."

-"There is another very important area, which is life sciences and health, where, for example, the ‘la Caixa’ Foundation has played a very important role. The ‘la Caixa’ Foundation is playing an increasingly important role in funding research in Portugal, especially in the health sciences area."

- "The issues that have given rise to most discussion and have generated some debate in Portuguese society, and that is why it is also important to look at them, is the part of sex education and gender identity, which starts very early, in pre-school. And I say again, it does not mean that it is not important to discuss them. I think that the question is often how they are discussed, it has to do with the teaching methods themselves. And then, obviously, when we are talking about issues that raise concerns, mainly on the part of parents, the government's obligation is to think about it, in other words, to evaluate and improve."
