Puerto de la Cruz celebrates “kill the snake” ritual

Puerto de la Cruz (Tenerife), February 12 (EFE).- Hundreds of people gathered this Monday to celebrate the “kill the snake” ritual in the historic center of Puerto de la Cruz, a tradition linked to the black slaves taken to Cuba who ended up in Tenerife during the 19th century by emigrants who returned from the Caribbean island, and which is linked to the fight against slavery.
