IVORY COAST WORLD CLEANUP DAY

Ivory Coast volunteers join World Cleanup Day

Abidjan, Sep 21 (EFE/EPA).- Volunteers collected plastic waste at the Adjame bus station as part of World Cleanup Day on Saturday.

World Cleanup Day, also known as the global day to clean up our planet and annually observed on 20 September, was launched by the non-profit Let's Do It World Foundation, to fight pollution through citizen cleanups.

Ivory Coast produces between 40,000 and 100,000 tons of plastic waste each year. Five to 20 percent is recycled while the rest is thrown into the streets, illegal dumps, or burned in the open air according to the government. (Camera: LEGNAN KOULA).
