Rome, Apr 23 (EFE).- One of the most famous motorcycles in history, the Vespa —a true Italian icon that continues to cruise the streets of the world — is marking its 80th anniversary.

Over the years, this famous scooter has spread across the globe with countless units—19 million manufactured between 1946 and 2021—and has been adapted into more than 160 different models.

-ALESSIO, AN ITALIAN WHO RENTS VESPAS:

“The Vespa is something that has been with every generation, from our grandparents with the first Vespa 50s, through the Special 125, and seeing how they’ve evolved over time; so, our grandparents had them in their youth, and now young people want the new model, perhaps like this one.”

“What makes the Vespa special is its iconic character and the fact that it’s recognizable all over the world, the style and timeless beauty that define it.”

"It has maintained its style over time without changing or evolving too much."

-MARCO, VESPA OWNER:

“It’s a special vehicle, created precisely by Italian industry; I think it’s something unique.”

-ALBERTO, VESPA OWNER:

“It’s unique, there’s nothing like it, and it’s perfect. It was made to be used every day, and in a city like Rome, it’s the best—it’s perfect.”

“Without a doubt, a certain pride, but I think above all, it’s because we’ve also grown up with it. This is my fifth one; I know a lot of people who still have their first one—it almost becomes part of the family.”
