Rome (Italy), Jan 27 (EFE) - Two artists opposed by the ideas conveyed in their art but connected by their iconic style that created their brand in the global imaginary: this is how an exhibition in Rome compares the legacy of pop art exponent Andy Warhol with the works of denunciation and street criticism of the anonymous Banksy.CAMERA: JOAN MASFOOTAGE OF THE EXHIBITION ‘WARHOL BANKSY’ AT THE WEGIL CULTURAL SPACE IN ROME, ITALY. INCLUDES TOTALS.TRANSLATIONS:1.- Giuseppe Stagnitta, curator of the exhibition ‘Wargol Bansky’:‘It seemed to us the case to talk about the founding fathers of this new idea of art. Art is no longer an object but becomes a media event. Banksy and Warhol show us this’.2.- Pietro Folina, president of Metamorfosi, producer of the exhibition ‘Warhol Banksy’:Banksy ‘has manifested a rejection of “pop art”, but in reality, behind this manifestation of repudiation, there is in some way recognition and a kind of filiation. The difference is that Warhol was working at a time when the world of capitalism and consumption seemed to be heading towards wonderful destinies, and Bansky on the other hand works at a time when there is a profound crisis of civilization, but both come from the world of design and advertising, and both use a serial system of reproduction of works of art: silkscreen prints in the case of both Warhol and Bansky’.
