Dozen suspects arrested for setting buses on fire in Rio de Janeiro

Santa Cruz, Oct 23 (EFE).- A dozen suspects were arrested Monday for setting fire to at least 35 buses in the city of Rio de Janeiro, in an action orchestrated by a paramilitary gang in retaliation for the death of an important leader of the group.

Rio de Janeiro experienced an afternoon of chaos after suspected members of a "militia", the name given to gangs made up of corrupt police and ex-cops, simultaneously set fire to at least 35 buses and a train in several neighbourhoods of the tourist capital. (Camera: JANAÍNA QUINET).
