Day of the Dead celebrations begin in Mayan towns in southern Mexico

San Juan Chamula (Mexico), Nov. 1.- Thousands of indigenous people from more than 100 communities gathered at the Romerillo cemetery in the municipality of San Juan Chamula, in the southern state of Chiapas, to celebrate the Day of the Dead, an ancestral tradition that still persists among the Tzotzil Maya.
