CUBA POWER OUTAGES

Cuba expects power outages to leave 51% of the country without electricity

Havana, May 15 (EFE).- Cuba’s state-run Electric Union (UNE) is once again forecasting prolonged power outages across the island this Friday and estimates that the largest blackout, occurring during peak demand, will leave 51% of the country without electricity simultaneously.

Despite remaining critical, the forecast represents a substantial improvement over the previous day, when the island suffered its worst blackout on record since outage data began to be released, with a record-breaking power failure that simultaneously affected 70% of the country.
