Bolivia's "Farándula de Pepinos" brings joy, foam to La Paz Carnival
La Paz, Feb 11 (EFE).- In La Paz, the administrative capital of Bolivia, the 'Farándula de Pepinos' was celebrated this Carnival Sunday, where people took to the streets in the colourful costumes of the character of this traditional festivity, amidst joy, music, and foam. Some streets of La Paz were blocked off for the event, in which families, groups of friends, companies and university faculties participated, all dressed in the characteristic Cucumber costume, as well as masks, wigs or other disguises during the parade.The Pepino character embodies the mischievousness, joy and unbridled spirit of Carnival, while the ch'uta and the cholita bring Aymara traditions to the celebration.
