STATEMENTS BY SPANISH MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS, JOSÉ MANUEL ALBARES:

Look, regarding Mexico, I have had the opportunity to speak on numerous occasions with the Mexican Foreign Minister, with whom I have had several multilateral meetings, one of them in this very embassy regarding Venezuela, and to convey to her exactly the same thing that is known, is public through the communiqué issued by the Ministry I head and which is our official position: Spain, of course, wants to maintain the best relations with a brotherly people such as the brotherly people of Mexico. But of course, what we are not going to accept is that there be a representation of any other level than that of the Head of State at the inauguration. Therefore, our position is clear, it is known and yes, I confirm that there was a note verbale and a summons from the Mexican Ambassador to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to convey exactly the same thing that you already know through the official communiqué and that I have had the opportunity to exchange with the Mexican Foreign Minister.
