Bangkok, Oct 1 (EFE).- At least 10 people were killed on Tuesday when a bus carrying school children on a field trip caught fire in metropolitan Bangkok, according to emergency teams.

The bus was carrying 38 students and six teachers from Wat Khao Phraya school in the province of Uthai Thani, about four hours from the capital.

At least 19 passengers escaped, and the injured were taken to hospitals in the area, according to local media outlet Thai Public Broadcasting Service. Rescue teams were still searching for more passengers. (Camera: HANDOUT).

Bangkok, Oct 1 (EFE/EPA).- A school bus carrying over 40 passengers, mostly children, caught fire on the outskirts of Bangkok.

Authorities fear up to 25 dead after rescuing 19 survivors.

The double-decker bus, carrying students and teachers from Wat Khao Phraya School in Uthai Thani for a field trip, burst into flames after a suspected tire blowout caused a collision.

Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra expressed her condolences and assured the families that the government would cover medical expenses for the survivors. Thailand is known for having one of the highest road accident death rates in the world. (Camera: NARONG SANGNAK).
