Streaming platform expands reach of Spanish-language film and TV in the United States

Miami (US), May 5 (EFE).- Spanish-language streaming platform FlixLatino, which operates in the United States and Puerto Rico, announced that its new free advertising video on demand (AVOD) will include more than 250 films and 20 free ad-supported streaming television (FAST) channels.

The announcement comes at a time when streaming accounts for 55.8% of the total time Hispanic audiences in the United States spend watching television, according to the report 2025 Diverse Intelligence Series: How Hispanic consumers are influencing the media landscape by Nielsen.

According to Luis Guillermo Villanueva, Chief Operating Officer of Somos Next, owner of the FlixLatino brand, the goal of these launches is to reach new audiences through advertising and partnerships, while also expanding its subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) service to a broader audience.

Growing catalog and expansion plans

FlixLatino’s AVOD service features a selection of theatrical-release films and series across genres such as drama, comedy, and thriller, along with live channels that users can access without a subscription.

In terms of scale, the platform offers more than 10,000 hours of content, including over 250 films and 20 FAST channels distributed through partnerships with Latin American content providers such as TV Azteca, Caracol Televisión, and RCN Televisión.

Featured titles include the Spanish comedy '7 razones para huir', the Argentine crime thriller 'El jardín de la clase media', the Venezuelan comedy 'El tercer deseo', the Bolivian drama Wiñay, and the Dominican action-comedy 'Lotoman 003.'

FlixLatino also announced that its growth strategy includes expanding its catalog with more films and series, adding new premium FAST channels, and introducing live and on-demand sports content.

The free AVOD service, which does not require registration, is already available in the United States and Puerto Rico through mobile platforms, its website, and smart TV apps. EFE
