BEIRUT, 21/11/2024.- The Lebanese Minister of Economy, Amin Salam, warns in an interview with EFE that his country is already experiencing an unemployment rate close to 50% and predicts further declines in GDP due to the war, a scenario for which they are "renegotiating" alternatives to a stalled rescue agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Beirut, Nov 21 (EFE).- Lebanon's Economy Minister Amin Salam has warned that the war between Israel and Hezbollah will have a devastating impact on the country’s already flagging economy.

In an interview with EFE, Salam said unemployment was at 50% and the country’s GDP was expected to decline by 6% to 8%.

The situation has meant Lebanese authorities are "renegotiating" alternatives to a stalled bailout agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
