Tokyo, Oct 27 (EFE/EPA).- More than 45,000 polling stations opened across Japan on Sunday morning to vote in early elections, seen as a test for the scandal-plagued ruling party weeks after its leader, Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba, took office.

As of 7am local time (23:00 GMT Saturday) citizens headed to the polls, their votes will decide the shape of the lower house, where the ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) could lose strength, though probably not enough to bring about a change of government, according to the latest local media polls.
